A Hit To Make The Honeymooners Proud

"One of these days, Alice, pow right in the kisser."
Gleason however was probably not taking what looks like a mean right hook aimed upward. But, on the other hand, he also was talking about his wife and not a cushy volleyball like this guy from The Pandemics (Daisy).
Still, if this were the Volleyball version of the show, this move would have made a perfect translation. But we're not going bang, zoom, straight to the moon. With any luck, we'll just be coasting over to the other side of the net. Live on, Gleason, in the bodies of these Volleyball playing men and women.
With Such Grace

It may not take more than sheer force to hit the ball back and forth over the net (sometimes under the net, too), but this woman from Bump It Up! (Kelly) proves that just because you're moving and sweating doesn't mean you can't have grace and style.
Just look at the way she curves her back in ever so slightly and how she raises her hand from the wrist all the way down through the fingers. Some kind of white feathery bird known for grace and poise couldn't have done any better.
And don't be fooled, these beautiful movements are backed up by an oncoming strike. Beautiful and powerful.
Backhanding It

The leaping antics of this guy from Free Balls (Red) can only be described as a mutated backhand - a term which conjures up images of the long-dead 1960s and 70s zebra-print pimps and their chosen method of enforcing their rules.
But this move here actually involves the man flying upward and backward before bringing the clamp down on poor little Wilson (the ball - a cousin of Tom Hank's co-star), sending him flying back to the Eagles (Royal) side of the court. We all love moves like this; they are a perfect blend of functionality and entertainment. Move on, man, move on.

I Survived Hurricane Irene... Just to Play Volleyball

Net Present Value (Daisy), Party Animals (Red), High Flyers (Kelly) and Set Fear Volleyball aka Team Smurf (Royal) brought high gusts of energy, bumps and spikes going 60 mph and a few actual rain drops to Chelsea on Sunday to honor Hurricane Irene, who caused the postponement of their Roosevelt Island playoff game.

This lonely player thought he was the sole survivor of Net Present Value (Daisy). Drowning out the world through his headphones (no pun intended), he started pumping himself up to single-handedly take on his opponents for a WIN!

SIKE! Suddenly, his entire team showed up and took the team to a 3rd place victory!
