BROOMBALL is a variation on the game of ice hockey. We play on an ice rink, but instead of a puck, we play with a ball. Instead of a hockey stick, we use a 'broom.' And instead of ice skates, we play in our sneakers...its true! Be prepared to slip, slide, and fall in this wild and tremendously fun ice sport. Teams of 12-15 play 6 on 6, trying to outscore their opponents by hitting the ball into the opposing goal. The 'brooms' have been updated from their early Canadian roots. We play with modern versions: rubber heads on aluminum sticks. For a little extra traction on the ice, you may want to try out Broomball shoes! In the summer, we bring the equipment inside and play in a gym, making for a fun and fast-paced variation!
