Thanks for your interest in becoming part of the NYC Social Gamestaff. If you don't know already, we offer co-ed recreational leagues in and around Manhattan. Our mission is to build a framework for new friendships in NYC; a place where a sense of community can often be hard to find. We do this year-round by producing fun and welcoming leagues with post-game socializing. Our players are adults (21+) from the boroughs of New York City and beyond. Altogether, we have 12,000+ players each year.
In order to provide well-run leagues to so many people, we keep an active roster of Gamestaff. We're always interested to hear from potential Refs, Coordinators, Liaisons, and Managers who want to join our team. As a member of our Gamestaff, you'll be the face of our company to many players. For that reason, we look for passionate, dedicated individuals with a mind for sports and a flair for fun. If you think you fit this description, read on and learn about the positions we offer. Not all will be available, but submitting your information is the first step to becoming part of our dream team.
All Gamestaff positions listed here are part-time and temporary. The hours are pretty much exclusively weeknights and weekends. When you join the team, you typically commit to a season (once a week, for 7 to 8 weeks). Candidates who prove themselves at the games will be asked to return for another season.
Referees are the backbone of our leagues, an extension of our Operations department, and one way we make the experience we exist to offer a reality. Qualified applicants must have a love of sports, exercise a high level of focused attention, and be confident with both the rules of NYC Social leagues and with their own ability to accurately interpret them in the moment. Refs are responsible for game day setup & breakdown, managing game equipment, calling games with integrity and consistency, helping to ensure games stay on schedule, submitting full Game Reports after each shift, and maintaining the high-quality, positive-energy events for which we have come to be known. Game Coordinators are the onsite point of contact for all players, an extension of our Membership department, and integral players in game organization and Club communication. Qualified applicants must be personable, love meeting people, and be great with names. Coordinators are responsible for greeting players and informing them about the games, listening to player feedback and suggestions, answering questions, maintaining division binders, helping to ensure games stay on schedule by prepping teams who are 'on deck' for the next round of games, entering scores into our online system, submitting Game Reports after each shift that not only paint an image of the night, but help to give an idea of what that division is like as a whole, and maintaining the high-quality, positive-energy events for which we have come to be known. Game Coordinators also assist Refs in setup, breakdown, and equipment management. CLICK HERE TO APPLY
Field Managers are the behind-the-scenes engines of our leagues, extensions of our Operations department, and provide big-picture support in key areas for several divisions. Qualified applicants must have a love of sports, highly organized minds, excellent verbal communication skills, and experience in training staff with a firm and positive attitude. Owning a car is a plus. Field Managers are assigned to a particular league (sport). They are responsible for maintaining the on-site inventory of game equipment, providing insights in ways to adjust Club rules, taking charge of duties related specifically to their league (gas-level in lights, key management, storage of large equipment, etc), as well as training and overseeing Refs to ensure the high-quality, positive-energy events for which we have come to be known. Blogging experience is a plus as is basic knowledge of HTML. As a Blogger, you can expect to have 1-2 assignments per week from which we expect 30-50 great photos and 3 blog posts.
