There's a Football?

Sometimes in sports photography (in low light situations), the ball in play is moving so fast it can become all a blur and almost miss seeing it. When this happened to me recently at the Thusrsday/Monday A Flag Football Playoffs, I decided to make it into a game much like "Where's Waldo"... Can you spot the football?

Starting a Play

Every football play starts off the same way...

The Legion of Boom (black), Chucking Deuces (royal), Shoelace Face (tx orange), and Gym Touchdown Laundry (kelly) from our Thursday/Monday A Flag Football division will show you a little bit about how it's done...

Everyone takes their place in line, ready to play...

The snap of the ball back to the Quearterback...

KTMonThursFlagA46

Players run to take the field for whatever play was called beforehand...

KTMonThursFlagA18

Then it is up to the QB to make the call on where the to throw the ball...

"Do I pass it short to the guy right in front of me?"

KTMonThursFlagA9

"Do I pass it off the guy on the side that isn't covered?"

KTMonThursFlagA12

Or "Do I pass it long down field?"

KTMonThursFlagA26

After that, everything changes, and a variety of plays can be made, but it all starts the same...

Every team worth their flag has a go to play that they use in those critical moments during a game when a first down is so close yet so far away, or one more touchdown will ensure a victory. The ability to bust out a play that is tested and has performed in the past to succeed seperates the teams playing in the playoffs from the ones begging to be crowned bar champs.

Action Weekly spoke with Paul of The Legion of Boom (black) about his team's go to play. Unfortunately he wasn't able to reveal to us The Legion of Boom's go to play because the season is still young and aparently this play works like a charm. "Yes we do [have a go to play], no comment. Historically, I'd say that it works three quarter's of the time, and when we're clicking it's 90%," said Paul during a post game interview aft er The Legion of Boom victory over Ninja Assassins (navy).

Other teams be warned The Legioon of Boom have a secret weapon, and a legion, and a boom!

Running Wild

AWM-FFThuMonCh-July2107

And the cops aren't even chasing me...um, I mean him!

But this guy from The Legion of Boom (Black) has plenty of reason to run.  He just popped in the flight path of a pass by Shoelace Face (Texas Orange) and snagged up the ball.  It'd be safe to assume that they're gonna want to try and get that back.

No matter how much they wanted it, he broke the line and made a dash.  Now he's running free and wild, all the way to the endzone and beyond.  Be free man, be free.

We all know the scene.  The woman waits nervously at the end of the arriving train's platform as dozens of people shuffle off the train.  She searches frantically for the one, the man she's loved since she was a little girl.  As he steps off the train, he throws his arms open to receive her as she runs at full speed into his body.

Except now it's Flag Football (sounds more romantic than pigskin, though considerably less fun).  This guy from The Legion of Boom (Black) has his arms outstretched so far it seems as though he's ready to receive three or four long-lost lovers all at once.

Unfortunately it just wasn't in the cards this time.  The ball slipped past his hands before he could get a hold of it.  Oh, the one that got away. But, better to have loved...ah hell, let's go to the bar.
